Design in Progress

I couldn’t really sleep so I decided to make a quick post of a design in progress. This is a trifold brochure for a financial company. Final design coming soon!
Portfolio Update – Shop.com Custom Business Card
Even though I am currently building my own graphic design business AND work a full time marcom job, I am also an independent distributor for Shop.com since February 2013 (which is why I have the shop.com logo on the right). After joining this business, I wasn’t impressed with a selection of business card designs so I decided to design my own.
This is a two-sided business card using my signature red from the yvenia business card to keep it consistent with my own brand. I couldn’t find a high resolution Shop.com logo so I end up recreating the logo. It may not be exact, but luckily it was mostly type.
Plus, I added a QR code, which links to my own Shop.com site (www.yvbshop.com). You can create a QR code through any QR code generator site and download a high resolution image — I got the code through GOQR.me.
Design Inspiration – Market America International Convention

It’s been awhile since my last post. Right now I’m in Greensboro, NC for a network marketing convention. This will be a quick post, but I will add more posts about the convention later on while I’m here.
Just want to show this logo I saw in the event’s magazine/program. The Market America International Convention (MAIC 2013) is an annual event of over 25,000 distributors from around the world. The logo represents MA as a global company.
Build Your Career and Network through Professional Organizations

Last night, I went to a networking event hosted by NJ MarCom, a community of professionals in communications, marketing, advertising, creative and related fields within New Jersey. I was not only there to represent the organization I’m currently in (AWCNJ is a partner organization), but to also expand my network, promote my design and communications business, and see what other organizations that I would like to join.
Being a member of a professional organization is more than just networking and happy hour (even though they are always fun!). You get to learn from other professionals on how they become successful in their own careers, view any job opportunities that are out there, promote your business, and take part in any educational events that can help you grow and develop your skills.
Plus, organizations are always looking for volunteers interested in various roles such as event planning, marketing, communications, graphic design, membership, recruiting, and technology (i.e. web content management, social media). Volunteering can also lead to serving as a board member such as President or Vice President. Either way, having one of these fancy titles looks good on your resume, don’t you think?
So which organization is right for you? Here are some that you should look into (some of the organizations shown here originated from NJ).
- Art Directors Club
- American Marketing Association
- Association for Women in Communications
- American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA)
- NJ Creatives Network
- International Association of Business Communicators
- Freelancers Union
- Media Communications Association International – This organization is more towards audio, video, multimedia and production.
- Business Marketing Association
- NJ Ad Club
